Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Dewey grew up in a family of musicians. At a very early age the family realized she loved drawing and painting rather than music. As a result of residing in several locales, Seattle, Calgary, Kamloops and Vernon, Dewey has developed an appreciation for a wide variety of subjects.

Dewey attended the Alberta College of Art and studied under artists such as Armand Valee, Jon Williams, John Compton, Dale Gerhman and Norman Brown.

Her paintings have been exhibited in several galleries, art shows and art festivals, and are in private collections in Calgary, Toronto, Denmark and U.S.A.

Besides painting, Dewey loves to teach oil painting and she admits her favorite class is her teenagers.
